Enhancement

We provide forensic analysis and examination of recorded video, images, and other forms of multimedia evidence in relation to both criminal and civil investigations/cases.

FORENSIC VIDEO ANALYSIS

This deals with the scientific examination, evaluation, and comparison of video in legal matters, whether criminal or civil in nature. Along with our video enhancement and clarification services, we can also authenticate video evidence to determine whether or not a particular recording has been edited, altered, or manipulated in any way.

Furthermore, in some circumstances, it may not be completely clear what is actually taking place with respect to an event captured on video. As experts in the field with years of training and countless hours reviewing and interpreting incidents “caught on tape”, we can provide you with a much more accurate account of events in comparison to the untrained eye. What may not be obvious or perceived by the casual observer, we can often identify and interpret. If you have video or images that may be inconclusive or arbitrary, we can analyze the visual information and provide an expert opinion on what has taken place.

ENHANCEMENT OF VIDEO & PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE
Do you have an unclear video or photographic source that may be grainy, distorted, blurred, dark, or have other visual defects? No matter how poor your video or photographic evidence may be, forensic processes can often turn your poor quality video or still images into a useful piece of evidence again. Blackstone has the forensic tools and expertise to “clean up” or enhance all types of images and video.

Through our advanced processes we can:

  • Magnify areas of a video or image in a clear manner so detail can be seen
  • Reduce noise associated with “fuzzy” video or images
  • Lighten up video or images so that dark areas can be seen clearly again
  • Un-blur an image or video that is blurry
  • Enlarge and sharpen images without distortion
  • Extract high quality still images from all types of video formats

AUTHENTICATION OF VIDEO & IMAGES
Integrity of the evidence can be a key factor in many cases. Blackstone can determine whether or not a video or image file is an original or has been tampered with, edited, altered, or deleted.

FORENSIC VIDEO & IMAGE INTERPRETATION
In some instances, it may not be completely clear what is actually taking place with respect to an event captured on video. This may be caused by obstruction due to objects, lighting issues, lack of detail, and camera perspective. As experts in the field with years of training and countless hours reviewing and interpreting incidents caught on tape, Blackstone can provide you with a much more accurate account of events in comparison to the untrained eye. What may not be obvious or perceived by the casual observer, we can often identify and interpret. If you have video or images that may be inconclusive or arbitrary, we can analyze the visual information and provide an expert opinion on what has taken place.

In some cases it may be possible to calculate height, speed, and distances from video and other image sources.

FORENSIC VIDEO & IMAGE COMPARISON
In a process similar to fingerprint identification, Blackstone is capable of conducting forensic comparisons between questioned objects or individuals appearing on video (i.e. CCTV, surveillance video, etc.) and known images of the same. Used for identification purposes, this scientific process compares both class and unique characteristics between the known video or image sources and the questioned video or image sources.

RECOVERY OF DAMAGED OR LOST INFORMATION
Blackstone Forensics can also recover deleted, damaged, or missing images or video files from a wide array of storage mediums (hard-drives, flashcards, USB, CD/DVD, VHS, etc.)

CONCEALMENT OF IDENTITY
There may be certain cases where specific information captured on video needs to be concealed. Perhaps the identity of an undercover operative or witness needs to be protected before the video is shown in court or to the public. Whatever the case, Blackstone can conceal sensitive information captured on video – whether you have 3 seconds or 3 hours of video, single or multiple targets, Blackstone has the tools and expertise to provide this service in a timely manner.

CRITICAL INCIDENT VIDEOGRAPHY

Our critical incident videography service augments still photography by providing a portrayal of incident scenes that gives the judge, jury, or investigator a sense of being there. Critical incident videography can provide valuable context to scene or event and give a perspective that cannot be captured by traditional still photography.

Our service is ideal to document the following:

  • Accident scenes & property damage for insurance purposes
  • An incident scene that may be used for reconstructive purposes (civil and criminal litigation
  • Document workplace accidents for investigative purposes

If you have a request that’s not on the list, please feel free to contact us – chances are we can help you.
